Client: Mackex Services on behalf of Sydney Trains
Type: Rail Project
Scope of project:
Supply and installation of 25m deep earth electrodes for 7 x timber pole aerial earths. The project was carried out for Mackex Services for and on behalf of Sydney Trains.
A tight deadline was in effect as the project needed to be completed prior to a 2 day possession weekend. The work site possessed height restrictions due to the live overhead conductors; these restrictions called for a smaller drill rig.
The drilling was carried out in cobblestone conditions which are one of the most difficult and aggressive drilling conditions that can be encountered.
Rotary hammer case drilling techniques were employed using the “Robit” system. Earthing Solutions were the first company in Australia to adopt and successfully operate the system on such a small and compact drill.
Due to the new drilling equipment being used the project was not without minor setbacks however the project was completed successfully and prior to the deadline.
